Twisted Pearl, a Montréal-based ensemble of exceptionally talented young string players, takes inspiration from the literal interpretation of the word “baroque” to deliver authentic and captivating performances. Specializing in European music from the 18th century, the group plays on period instruments, including the harpsichord, to bring the grandeur of the era to life.
In 18th-century France, Versailles was the epicenter of culture and sophistication. While King Louis XIV’s lavish palace remained out of reach for most, the public’s fascination with his lifestyle inspired a flourishing repertoire of chamber music. These pieces, crafted to emulate the refined elegance of Versailles, were played by amateur musicians in intimate settings, bringing a taste of royal splendor to their homes.
