This class will take a look at discovering your visual language. In viewing your visual skills, the courses will give you practice with the tools for understanding photography as an art form:
Class 1 Asking the students essential questions to get them to start thinking critically about what and why they are taking photography.
Class 2 Lighting- Brightness is an attribute of visual perception in which a source appears to be reflecting light. Applying involves transmitting the power of light from one place to another, from one’s eye to another’s. Color is going to be discussed. Composition- (Seeing it well ) 1- A basic understanding of subjects and framing. 2- A basic notion of background and perspective.
Class 3 Let’s get to work. Using the knowledge from previous lectures, let’s explore photography the way we never have.
Class 4 Reviewing each other’s photos and telling our stories. (Readings will come later)
Date and Time: Sundays March 3 – 24, 11:00am – 1:30pm
Cost: 4 weeks $100.

- Registration is online, by phone or in person, classes to be paid in full.
- Cancellation up to 24 hours before class – $20 cancellation fee.
- After a session starts, students can cancel in case of an emergency. In this case, the student will be charged for classes taken, and will receive a credit for the remaining classes to be used with the same teacher at another time
- The Griffintown Art School retains the right to cancel a class if there are not enough students enrolled. Full amount will be refunded.
