Explore methods of printmaking, which do not require a press and can easily be done
at home! Students will learn the basic principles of relief printing (using linoleum blocks
and easy stamps), monoprinting, as well as experiment with alternative transferring
processes. The instructor will demonstrate these techniques, and allow students the
chance to practice and explore, making multiples of their imagery. Students will go
home with a familiarity with a range of print processes, as well as a stack of new prints
to share with family and friends.
This class is geared toward beginners. No prior knowledge of printmaking is necessary.
Please bring to class 4″ X 5″ photocopies of drawings/images you want to use in class.
These images must be photocopies in order for the alternative transferring process
to work. Images should be relatively simple, and in black and white. We will provide
the printmaking materials and paper but students must bring photocopies of images,
as well as any additional materials they would like to print on (bags, t-shirts etc). The
possibilities are endless!
